Susan Goes Home
BySuBo: I’ll take on the world
Britain’s Got Talent’s Susan Boyle is back home with Pebbles after rehab

BRITAIN’S Got Talent star Susan Boyle has bounced out of rehab to tell the world: “I feel bloody fantastic.”
The troubled 48-year-old described her stay at London’s Priory clinic as “a little holiday” and vowed: “I want to take on the world. I’ve got my sleeves up ready. From now on there’s nae cr*p.”
And yesterday Simon Cowell revealed just MIAOOW SuBo aims to get back on top form . . . by heading home to stroke her beloved cat Pebbles.
She flew to Scotland yesterday after Cowell urged her to go back to Blackburn in West Lothian for the weekend to recover after her four-day stint in the clinic.
I just need to be home with Pebbles
He told aides: “She needs to be with Pebbles. The best cure for her is time with her cat and her family.” And an emotional Susan later admitted: “I just need to be home with Pebbles.”
Show runner-up Susan-dubbed the Hairy Angel-will spend a few days in Scotland before returning to London next week to start work on demos for her debut album.
Cowell has a lucrative contract ready for her to sign-but he has also told her that he will CANCEL the deal if she would rather return to her old life.
A friend of Cowell’s said: “Simon would love to turn Susan into a big star around the world-but only if she wants that.”
Excited
Susan went into the Priory last Sunday after reports that she was “behaving strangely” at her hotel following her defeat in the final by dance act Diversity.
But yesterday her brother John said the shy singer was on great form she headed home to Blackburn.
John, 59, beamed with joy as he told us: “I have spoken to Susan and she is very excited and positive about the future.
“She told me, ‘Don’t worry. I’m having the time of my life.’ She said she felt fantastic and couldn’t wait to come back home this weekend.
“She was giggling away and sounded more relaxed than she has in ages.”
Susan-who booked into the Priory under the name of Geraldine after Peter Kay’s spoof reality TV show character-also told a close pal that she was “not f***ing mad”, but that she was “exhausted and had had a breakdown”.
John said: “That’s the thing with Susan. She suffers from these mood swings, so I hope that now she’s out of the clinic she’s OK.
“I also hope she’s been reassured by Simon Cowell’s people that everything’s on track with her career and that she can now start looking forward.”
He said SuBo was delighted when Cowell rang her at the Priory to reassure her that her career was on track.
“By all accounts it gave her a real boost and I hope that I can thank him soon for all the help he’s given her,” said advertising company boss John. But he blasted Britain’s Got Talent executives for not giving his sister- who has mild learning difficulties- enough help and pushing her “to the brink”.
He said: “She was put under extreme pressure and I don’t think they handled the situation well. These were exceptional circumstances and they had a duty of care towards her.
“I’m very angry about it. They could have done more to help Susan.
John also revealed his fears for his sister’s future-and who she might get mixed up with.
“She can be very influenced by other people. She never listens to her family. It’s part of her slight disability. She’s very naive,” he said.
John’s fears were echoed by another brother, Gerry, who accompanied Susan as she had talks with record company chiefs on Friday about plans for an album.
Gerry, 55, said: “She thinks the best of everyone-that’s her upbringing, she takes everyone at face value.
She never listens to her family. It’s part of her slight disability
“A part of her thinks she can walk down the street and nothing is different to before.
“But it’s not like that any more-she’s a worldwide phenomenon. We just hope she doesn’t get taken for a ride by unscrupulous people.
“There will be quite a lot of guys after her now.” But he thinks any men after her money will get short shrift. I don’t think Susan will get married. Maybe if someone sweeps her off her feet, but she won’t be looking,” he said.
Gerry says the first thing she’ll do with her earnings is buy her £80,000 four-bed council home in Blackburn where she lives alone with 10-year-old pet Pebbles.
It has has been rented by her family for 50 years and SuBo still sleeps in the same room she had as a child.
Gerry said: “She will keep the house as part of the family and if she can afford a bigger house she will buy that too.”She’s certainly not going to buy a Jaguar or do this and that and fritter the money away-she can’t even drive!”
He said Susan- who has scraped by on benefits for the last 27 years-plans to give away much of the cash she expects to make, mostly to her surviving siblings-John and Gerry, Mary, 75, Bridie, 72, Joe, 62 and James, 58. “She’s making noises that that she will give all the money to her family,” Gerry laughed. “That’s her all over -she’s so generous.
“Money is not really important to her. What she wants is a successful singing career and to be respected.”
